80's in January

.....this cannot be normal. Whatever happened to winter?
To take advantage of this beautiful Saturday I went to Sea World with my friend Holly and her son Trevor. We were able to see 3 shows and feed the dolphins and let little Trevor run around in Elmo's world.
The Clyde and Seamore Seal show.

SO I am off of work today... I am calling it a mental health day! Actually I took yesterday and today off of work because my mom had surgery yesterday and she was scheduled to stay the night in the hospital but they let her go home last night. So I am just going to enjoy my day and in a little while I am meeting Sarah and Andrew at Chili's for lunch and then I might hit up the 2 story Target at Grossmont center. My mom had to have a tumor removed from her thyroid. I guess this thing was sucking the calcium from her bones and displacing it in her blood stream. We checked into the hospital at 8:30 AM and did not get to leave until 6:30 PM. It was a long day for me just sitting around, thank goodness for my ipod and a good book. I guess it was a lot harder for my mom - I should not complain :) She was so nervous about them cutting the front of her neck. When I spoke with the DR afterwards he told me that when she went into the operating room that her blood calcium level was at 168, anything over 80 is red flagged as extremly dangerous, as soon as they removed the tumor her levels dropped to 28. Which is a huge difference, but because her levels returned to normal so quickly they let her go home. A few weeks ago there was a patient on my fav show Greys Antatomy that had the same thing done and it showed Dr McSteamy cutting the patients neck - I told my mom to be sure and not watch that epsiode.......
Ok, well I am going to go and take a nice long hot shower and start my mental health day..... Then it is back to the grind tomorrow!

I am

getting ready to start traffic school online.
What a fabulous way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

I have to be quick cause I am currently at work. So far the day has gone by quite slow. I have 10 large trash cans full of plans that I need to archive. I have been putting it off forever but the warehouse is starting to slowly fill up. I figured this would be a good day because it is quite at the office and it is rainy so there is not much going on. I have to put an ID# on each set of plans and then pack them in boxes and place a barcode on the boxes and then call an outside company that will come and pick them up for storage. So far I have emptied 4 cans and packed 10 boxes. I just came back across the street to check my email and I decided to do a quick blog to break up the boredom and I had my phone with me so why not snap a few pics...

The only nice thing about archiving is that I am usually the only person in the small warehouse and I can crank up the radio to help pass the time. Ok back to work - 45 more minutes until lunch time......

Short Video

For Christmas I received a Flip video camera. It is a digital video camera that fits in your purse or pocket. I took my first video when my brother came over last weekend for his birthday to open his gifts and we had a bbq. The video ended up being about my dog Jessjess opening her own gift.

This week was a little hectic. It was busy at working doing year end crap, we had to close the books on 2008. I have been fighting a cold that seems to be going around. I thought I made it through without being sick, but it found me. I started a diet, which is new for me and very hard. there are 22 of us at work that are doing are own version of biggest loser, we each $20 to a pot that will be awarded to the biggest losers on March 30th. I came in 6th place dor our first weigh in on monday. We will see what this monday brings.

I just received my notice for traffic school in the mail today. At least I can do it from home on the computer. But the ticket price was ridiculous, $229 for going straight in a right hand turn lane that I did not even see. I have not looked at how much the school is going to be. For that price I should have drove back to El Centro and fought it!

Fun Pics

We celebrated my Woo-woo's 75th birthday on December 26th out in the sand dunes. She will not stop riding her quad no matter how much we suggest that she should act her age :) She rides at a snail's pace but she enjoys it so much. It makes a lot of us nervous but she is a safe rider. these pics were taken on her birthday. We were goofing around and Sean decided to make it look like she had "run" him over.

It has been a busy weekend. yesterday was my brothers birthday and we had a BBQ for him. Then it was my best friends bday on the 6th so we went out last night. Went to TFIFridays and had some drinks and then walked to the theater, she had not seen twilight yet so I agreed to see it again (4th time actually). today I met another friend that I had not seen in months for brunch, then went to the grocery store to get stuff start bringing a lunch to work. Now I am on my 3rd load of laundry and my neighbors are having a Charger party and I need to get over ther by half time - when the food is served - plus I made a dish to share.... So I think there are a few more minutes till half time so I need to go!

Well, it has been a great, but hectic, past 2 weeks. It will take more than one post to get it all out. Lets see, I will start with the Christmas week. I got off of work at 3:30 PM on Tuesday 12/23, I went and picked up my brother and then we went down to meet my parents is Ocotillo. When we arrived there we loaded up the trailer with our bikes, etc, and put all our stuff in the motorhome. Then we got ready to leave for the Gordon Wells Sand Dunes. we pull out of the yard and the motorhome dies. My dad gets out and apparently the fuel pump was hanging by a thread so that put us about 40 min behind. Then we finally get on the road and head for the dunes. We had a really big crowd of family and friends this year including people from Sacramento, a few from Fallon Nevada, Orem Utah and Sweet Idaho. There were not too many other camps at the dunes, which was really nice when you went riding. You did not have to worry about anyone cutting you off or crashing in to you. The weather started off beautiful but on Christmas night the wind blew and blew, it felt like the motorhomes were going to tip over and when you went outside you needed goggles to keep the sand out of your eyes. After that night the wind slowed but it was COLD the rest of the days. I lived in my beanie and gloves. A few years ago at Christmas it was so hot that I actualy jumped in the canal. I left the dunes on Sunday night to work a few days then drive back to the desert for the New Year. Here are some pics from the sand dunes. I have a lot so I am just trying to pick the better ones to post here.

Me out in the dunes!

Me coming down my favorite hill to climb!

My bike....... after I got stuck in soft sand that took about 20 minutes for Joanna and I to dig out. Oh yeah, and no one noticed that we were missing either!!!!
